Teen Readers ARC Giveaway!
Edited Dec. 1 - Hey there, everybody! I've just done my random drawing and have emailed the 5 winners. If all of them accept, then this contest will be closed. Thank you so much to all who entered! And if you didn't win, don't despair! You can still enter for an ARC at Goodreads, or enter my Glee giveaway if you're a Glee fan. Not to mention the giveaways I'll be doing once RIVAL is out. Keep trying - and thank you so, so much for your interest in my book!

Hi, friends and (I hope) future fans. I'm really excited to announce a project to put Advance Reader Copies of my book, RIVAL, into the hands of teen readers!

I have dedicated 5 of my personal ARCs specifically for teens and will be giving them away in a random drawing that will take place December 1. From now until then, I'll be reaching out to high school choruses, music directors, English teachers--anybody and any venue I can find where there might be teens who would enjoy my book. So if you came here from Facebook or YouTube or heard about the giveaway from a teacher or friend, Welcome! Here are the details on how you can enter for a chance (or several chances) to win.

How do I enter?

Simple. Just send me an email at sara(at)sarabennettwealer(dot)com with the heading TEENRIVAL. You do not have to buy anything! In your email, tell me the name of your school, just to help verify that you actually are a teen. That will get you one entry. (Note: I am NOT collecting information for any purpose besides this drawing. When the drawing is over, all email addresses will be pitched. I am NOT a spammer. The only email anybody will ever receive from me is the one notifying you if you win. I also will email if you ask me to verify that I got your entry. )

Want an extra entry? Post about the drawing on your Facebook page, blog, Twitter or other social network site and include the links in your email to me.

You can get even more entries by getting other people to enter. Just have them mention your name when they email. You get an extra entry for each person who does this. So say you get your entire choir of 20 people to enter. That's 20 extra entries for you!

The email address, again, is sara(at)sarabennettwealer(dot)com - and remember to put TEENRIVAL in the subject line.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

If you're 13 or 19 or any age in-between, then you're eligible. Obviously I can't verify that everyone who enters actually is who and what they say the are, so I'm going to ask that people abide by the honor system. My family members are not eligible, obviously. And because I'm paying postage myself, I have to limit entries to people with mailing addresses in the U.S. and Canada.

If you're 13, please let me know that you asked permission from a parent when you enter.

Do I have to be a singer or in band or do some other kind of music?

Absolutely not! Obviously, I want teen musicians to know about this giveaway, since the book has a strong music theme, but I'm also reaching out to those who just want to read a good book. RIVAL has romance, friendship, intrigue and a big Homecoming Dance -- lots to love even if you aren't into music.

How will the random drawing work?

I'll be keeping track of people who've entered (and the number of entries they've earned) on a big spreadsheet. At 10 p.m. on Dec. 1, I will either transfer all of those entries into slips of paper or assign each entry a number. Then I will randomly draw five.  I may have one of my cute kids help me out. I might even post it on YouTube! Whatever the random draw yields is the final result. The only change will happen if someone decides they don't want the book. Then I'll randomly draw a new name to replace that one.

Why are you announcing this now if the drawing isn't until December?

Because I'm going to be doing a lot of outreach between now and then, trying to get the word out in various ways. I want to have something up for people who'd like to enter early, while also allowing time to connect with people who might not be in my immediate circle. If I get a really massive response really quickly, I may move the drawing up. In that case, I'll update this blog and my website to let everybody know.

Yes, but why December?

I'm thinking RIVAL might be a good Christmas break read. And then it's only a couple of months 'till the book is in stores. So that way, if you like it and want to recommend it, then your friends won't have that long to wait.

I'm not a teen! Can I enter?

Not this time. I'll be doing giveaways at Goodreads and some other places, including my blog, so adults will definitely have chances to win a copy of RIVAL. Oh, and if you're a Glee fan, I'll be doing a special drawing for you, too. Keep checking my blog and website for details!

What's in it for you, Sara?

Well, obviously I'm hoping to get the word out about RIVAL. I hope I can introduce you to a book you might like to read when it comes out in February. And if you win an advance copy and like it (which I hope you will), I hope you'll tell your friends. Maybe you'll post about the book on Facebook or something, or ask your local bookstore to carry it. There's no pressure--I'm not going to be checking up or bugging you to do anything. I just want to get the book out there and see if I can win some fans.

OK? How does that sound? If you're interested in reading RIVAL before anybody else, then enter now!

Hey! Can't believe I'm just now seeing this comment. Thanks for spreading the word! And if you're a Glee fan, which it seems you are, watch this space - I'll be doing another giveaway just for Gleeks, launching this week.
